Notes from Alex Milner;
These old bush vines planted in 1974, in the shadows of the Helderberg Mountain are planted in decomposed granite and face west towards False Bay, making it the closest block we have to the sea and our oldest. A certain aristocracy to this wine. Beautiful purity of fruits, cherries and strawberries with a surprising firmness of structure, yet incredible softness and elegance.
Taking their fruit from a patch of old bush vines in the shadow of the Helderberg, facing west towards False Bay, this impressive Cinsault has a marked ocean influence. Light, elegant and beautifully floral, it’s a poised, refreshing, Pinot Noir-like Cinsault that is fermented and aged in concrete eggs. 2017-23 93 points Tim Atkin MW
